'He adopted the kittens as his own': Male Cat Protects 2 Tiny Kittens From 5 Aggressive Cats, Stepping up as the Best Step-Dad and Adopting the Itty Bitty Kitties Into His Family

One thing that we know for a fact is that independent as they are, when it comes to their babies, cats do not mess around. Cats will go out of their way to protect their babies and make sure that they are happy and healthy and safe. We have seen it time and time again. Cats stepping up when they are needed. We have seen cats protect their kittens from dogs, not letting the dogs anywhere near them. We have seen cats hold onto their kittens for dear life as vets get ready to examine them. We have even read about cats running into burning barns to save their kittens, at risk of their own safety. 

But it seems that it's not just their biological babies that cats are willing to risk anything to save. It may be kittens as a whole. Because although this male cat is neutered and doesn't have babies of his own, he was willing to risk it all to protect two itty bitty kitties.

    I watched this beautiful boy (Ghost) hiss at a bunch of other old cats to protect these two small kittens as the other cats were getting nearly aggressive towards the kittens. After letting everyone know that if anyone as much as curl a hair on their precious fur. He WILL mess them up. He proceeded to comfort and groom the kittens. He appears to have adopted the kittens as his own despite being neutered and unrelated.

    Considering how independent cats are all the time, for a cat to not only stand up to five cats instead of running away, but to stand up to them in protection of two kittens that are not his own… yes, he truly is a Good Boy.

    And he knows that he is. Look how proudly he is wearing that medal. He knows that he did a righteous thing, he knows that his non-biological babies are safe, and we're pretty sure that if anyone dare separate him from them, he will not hesitate to tear that medal down and mess them up.

    Traroten 5d ago Top 10% Commenter Some Toms do that. There was an ancient feral cat at Tiny Kittens HQ (cat rescue facility) who would hiss and swat at any human who approached him. But then they let in a couple of kittens and he went instantly into 'friendly grandpa' mode, admonishing them gently when necessary and teaching all the proper cat secrets. The next day, it came back with four kittens. A tomcat had recently started coming around as well, so they figured he must've been the father. When they took "mama" in to be spayed, it turned out "she" was actually a neutered male! No idea where he found four orphaned kittens, but he was the very picture of a doting parent. 653 ○ Repl
